Commissioner meets Conveners Forum

John McNeill, the Police Complaints Commissioner for Scotland, met with representatives from Scotland’s six police authorities and two unitary authorities who make up the Scottish Police Authorities Conveners Forum on Tuesday 13 October 2009.

John McNeill said:
Today we laid the foundation for a strong working relationship. We have identified a number of areas where we believe we can work together, most notably in relation to training in best practice complaints handling and developing a rights-based approach to policing in Scotland.”

Councillor Paul Rooney, Convener of the Scottish Police Authorities Conveners Forum said:
Police Authorities have a duty to ensure a robust and fair complaints process is in place within our forces.  We look forward to working with Scotland's new Complaints Commissioner to monitor and improve our practice, policy and processes.
